My MM2H Journey: A German's Perspective

Good day, esteemed readers! I am excited to share my exhilarating journey with MM2H, the Malaysia My Second Home Golden Visa. Hailing from Germany, let me tell you, opting for this program was truly one of the finest decisions in my life.

The MM2H visa, it offers myriad benefits for individuals seeking to relocate to Malaysia. From the simplified application process to the warm assistance from the authorities, the experience, it has been nothing short of exceptional.

Long-term peace of mind

One of the factors that initially drew me to the MM2H program was the duration of this social permit. This, it allows me to savour the splendour of Malaysia for years on end, without the perpetual hassle that are part and parcel of all the short-term visa applications, or having to do visa runs, or in other ways try to outsmart the Malaysia immigration authorities. This peace of mind is priceless.

Residing in Malaysia under the MM2H program has been an enriching journey in many aspects. From delving into the captivating cultures and the awe-inspiring landscapes that Malaysia offers, to immersing myself in the lively urban buzz, exploring throw-back Malay villages in the "ulu" parts. Frankly, there is always something novel and thrilling to discover here.

Tax breaks

Let's face it, one of the main draws of the MM2H visa is the generous financial benefits this visa provides, including tax-free remittances from overseas into Malaysia. Essentially, you don't pay any taxes, completely legally, without having to resort to quirky loopholes in the law. Best of all, if your home country participates in the Double Taxation Agreement (DTA) with Malaysia, all you need to do is register with the Malaysia Tax authorities and you'll be exempted from taxes in your home country too. No taxes at all? Is this even possible? Yes, with MM2H it is.

Purchasing power boost

Another excellent MM2H incentive is the low cost of living in Malaysia, especially when you consider that it's one of the more advanced countries in Sout-East Asia in terms of infrastructure, facilities, amenities, housing and political stability. The favourable conversion to the Euro alone is good for disposable income multiplier by a factor of 5. Life's good as an expat in Malaysia, that much is clear.

Naturally, there have been some hurdles along the way, particularly when it comes to acclimatizing to the weather and the difference in German staple foods compared to Malaysia's. To be honest, as a German, I must confess, I did miss the occasional schnitzel and sausage. But guess what? I've since discovered they're available here too! That said, another confession, I have grown to embrace the diversity of Malaysian cuisine with gusto. Nasi padang, chicken rice, roti cenai... What's not to love?

Health Care

More and more people from around the globe are discovering that Malaysia's healthcare is A) Excellent and B) Affordable, a combination that's hard to beat. In fact, next to Singapore, Malaysia has become Asia's other Health Tourism epicentre. Preventative care, diagnostics or inpatient medical procedures, Malaysia offers it all, at value for money that's better than anywhere in the world.

Bottom Line

So yeah, my experience with the MM2H program has been super positive. It has provided me with the opportunity to embark on a fresh chapter in my life, live the ife of an expat, with all the bells and whistles this comes with. Thanks to the wonderful people of Malaysia.

I wholeheartedly endorse the MM2H program to anyone in search of a remarkable adventure in this awesome country, Malaysia.
